The exhibition in contrast explores black and white as autonomous vehicles of expression within a consistent aesthetic reduction that has been influential in art history since the beginning of the 20th century. Within the interplay of contrast, materiality, and perception, the works on display unfold a multifaceted reflection on form, presence, and impact beyond color.
The exhibition features works by Donald Baechler, Stephan Balkenhol, Ivan Baschang, Joseph Beuys, Christian Boltanski, Jonathan Bragdon, Christo, Gregor Hildebrandt, Alex Katz, Jannis Kounellis, Ryan Mendoza, Mimmo Paladino, Sean Scully and Harry Tilman.
