MILEN TILL

Parkett

01 February - 16 March 2024

Galerie Klüser

Opening: 01 February | 6 - 9 pm

The old herringbone parquet flooring has been an integral part of the gallery space for decades, bearing sometimes silent, sometimes creaking witness to the gallery's long history; a history of significant meetings, conversations and exhibitions. Three years ago, Milen Till (* 1984 in Munich) took a closer look at the floor for the first time and made it – or more precisely, the triangular gaps that can be found in some places – into the protagonist of his exhibition 'Lückenfüller – Hommage à Palermo' ('Gap filler – Homage à Palermo'). In his current solo exhibition 'Parkett' ('Parquet'), this supposed supporting actor takes centre stage again.

About the artist

Milen Till was born in Munich in 1984. He studied Painting and Graphics under Prof. Gregor Hildebrandt at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he graduated as a master student in 2022. In his conceptual works, Till frequently cites icons of art history and pop culture, but also everyday objects, which, presented in a new context, play with associations, redirect and question the focus.
