Francesco Clemente (born 1952 in Naples) is an Italian painter and co-founder of the Transavanguardia movement, which emphasizes a return to figurative painting. His work blends Western and Eastern influences, especially inspired by his time in India.
Clemente works across painting, drawing, and sculpture. He has lived and worked in New York and India and exhibited internationally in museums such as the Guggenheim and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli.
